THE LOW DOWN ON LONDON

By Charlie Irons

Just before he jetted off to the Maldives, we spoke to Charlie Irons of fashion and lifestyle blog Man About Townfor his inside scoop on London, the city which he currently calls home, and his travels in Orlebar Brown.

Where can you find the best views?

The best views in London are from The Shardat night. Not many people realise you can take in the views for the price of a cocktail at Aquashard and dodge the queues and ticket prices of the viewing platform. Another fabulous place for taking in London is from Hampstead Heath—a great place to spend a wintery Sunday afternoon.

Where is your favourite place to eat?

If we're talking comfort food, then Honest Burgeror Zelman Meats, both in Soho, are my guilty pleasures. For something a little healthier, I'm a huge fan of Sticks’n'Sushi.

Do you have any secret places to visit?

In London, it's hard to keep anything a secret, but I guess my favourite place to escape to would be Windsor Great Park, less than 40 minutes from London by train and essentially the Queen's garden that she's decided to share with the public. There’s acres and acres of beautiful woodland, fresh air and stunning views of Windsor Castle.

Further afield, a place that always feels like it's my little secret is the Maldivian island of Thudufushiin the heart of the Indian Ocean. It's where I met my fiancé Josie (wearing my oldest pair of OBs) and revisited in December six years after we met to propose (also wearing OBs!). It's one of the smallest Maldivian islands and is a real hidden gem amongst all the much more well-known and better-promoted islands.

Where in or around London do you like to wear your OBs?

My favourite place to rock my OBs has to be Dorset in the peak of the British summer. The Jurassic coast is like something out of French Polynesia when the sun is shining and it's genuinely hard to believe such a place can exist right on our doorstep! If we are talking winter, I always like to wear my OBs in the spa and there's nowhere more relaxing than Soho Farmhousewith its steamy outdoor heated pool in the heart of the English countryside.
