MY WEEKEND IN MIAMI

WITH ORLEBAR BROWN

By Jordan Braun

We invited Miami-based photographer Jordan Braun to document the weekend with us while we visited his hometown to celebrate our new stores at Bal Harbour Shops and South Beach. From poolside burgers to an intimate dinner, Jordan shares his whistle-stop guide to The Magic City.

The weekend started with a full shoot and tour around Miami with some looks in hand from Orlebar Brown. I obviously had to start in my neighborhood beach which is two short blocks from my home, South Pointe. This area has the prettiest view of South Beach to Fisher Island and Downtown Miami. There’s vibrant blue water and you can find locals long boarding on the boardwalk, surfing or relaxing at the beach with friends; I often find myself in the exact spot. After a walk along the boardwalk, we hopped in a car for a short drive north to the Nautilus Hotel.

Our second stop brings us to the Nautilus Cabana Club . This is one of my absolute favorite hotels with amazing beach service, tailored to both tourists and locals, and you can find a diverse crowd in search of some rays here. The blue and white striped umbrellas provide the perfect background to any photo alongside the Art Deco inspired lifeguard stands (don’t skip out on the Nauti Burger!). Then, a drive up Collins Avenue brings us to Soho Beach House.

A private members’ club for creatives, it’s a great place to escape and here you’re most likely to find me hitting the beach or the rooftop pool. Soho Beach House has some of the best events, parties, food, DJs (think Diplo during Miami Music Week or Mia Moretti during Basel) and it’s a hotspot for celebrities. Here, you can see Orlebar Brown shorts being worn all over the beach! After a quick bite at the Club Bar, which has some of the coolest bartenders in Miami, we are off to check out Brickell City Centre.

Attached to Brickell City Centre is EAST Miami , another favorite for local residents. The pool area is made up of two full size pools, a hot tub and polar plunge pool; a great place to relax while being surrounded by the Brickell skyline. Sugar is a rooftop bar on the 40th floor with spanning views of Miami Beach and Brickell plus an amazing view to watch the sunset. After a quick jump in the pool, our tour continues to my personal favorite bar for a happy hour drink, Minibar at Urbanica Hotel , located on Miami Beach in the South of Fifth neighborhood.

Minibar is a hidden gem in Miami Beach with great cocktails and staff that are more than your average bartenders. I find myself here almost every weekend spending time with friends and neighbors listening to the DJs play familiar throwback tracks. Above the bar is a pool and lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows that open up completely during the cooler months of November to April.

The store opening at Bal Harbour Shops was a great event to kick off the Miami celebrations, where guests had the chance to experience the new store. Complete with their newest collection, DJ Rascal provided the soundtrack to the event from the lifeguard stand—yes, a lifeguard stand has been built into the store as the till point!

On Friday night, the Orlebar Brown team hosted a dinner in the penthouse at Soho Beach House. Guests of the brand gathered to enjoy views from the 15th floor while drinks poured and DJ ESP spun the decks. The following day, a poolside cocktail event was held at Ocho, Soho Beach House with music again by DJ ESP as members and guests swam in the pool and danced on the deck. I’ll always remember the views of the vibrant blue water and the Florida sunshine, combined with a crowd decked out in the newest shorts and exclusive slogan tees. If you want your own Miami Beach tee, you can pick one up at all three Orlebar Brown stores around Miami.
