Orlebar Brown Tenth Anniversary Collection

A Bigger Splash, the seminal work by David Hockney, was a key source of inspiration for Orlebar Brown at launch so it seemed a natural starting point for our tenth anniversary collection. Hockney describes A Bigger Splash as ‘freezing a moment’; his distinct style and vivid colour choices capture the energy and dynamism of a classic summer scene.

Hockney’s artistic style and the clothes he chose to wear in 60s LA—the combination of vibrant primary colours—form a key capsule of our High Summer collection.

If you see the world as beautiful, thrilling and mysterious, as I think I do, then you feel quite alive.

David Hockney

Our very first collection featured classic, bold colours and we’ve celebrated that palette with bright sunshine yellow, rich raspberry and lawn green.

Summer Stripes

Our Summer Stripes capsule is a ready-to-wear collection of bold, clashing stripes and classic combinations supported by lightweight linens and relaxed shirts that represent quintessentially English style. Summer Stripes is full of colour life and epitomises the spirit of Orlebar Brown.

The vivid hues of our High Summer palette are referenced from David Hockney’s bright LA wardrobe from the 60s and 70s. These bold colours are realised in lightweight linens, towelling and piqué as well as waffle cotton and seersucker. We’ve also added four new house prints plus both classic and abstract photographic editions to bring real diversity to the range.

We collaborated with Croatia-based artist Sanda Anderlon to create three unique summer scenes that are filled with life and colour.

Anderlon is renowned for her busy and brilliant collages and experiments with illustration. Her depictions of the Hollywood hills, a lively pool scene and beach life in LA are all intricately pieced together with an acute attention to detail and an eclectic mix of colours and shapes.

Our sport capsule is incredibly strong this year. The Dachshund brief and Jack sport swim short sit alongside the lightweight Orson jacket as the more technical pieces supported by a range of classic sweats.
