Markets

From the ‘marchées volants’, the flying day markets for groceries, to the famous Paris antique markets, Paris offers many different market experiences.
One well kept market-secret can be found right on Isle de la Cité, next to Notre Dame. A flower market that is open every day of the year, but that comes out in full bloom during the summer, giving visitors a bit of peace and beauty in the middle of the urban buzz. On sundays the bird traders enter the market, turning it into an old-fashioned and exotic spectacular.

Al Fresco

Paris and good food is the perfect partnership and there are hundreds of places where you can enjoy a quality meal or a relaxing drink in the shade of a canvas blind or under the Paris stars.
On the picturesque Place Dauphine you have the widest choice and one highlight is Restaurant Paul, a restaurant which was prominently featured in Woody Allens ‘Midnight in Paris’ 2011.

Hangouts

In “Midnight in Paris”, Woody Allen promotes many of the city’s beautiful parks and hangouts, but in one of the first scenes of Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams are seen strolling around the beautiful, romantic gardens of painter Claude Monet, east of Paris. This is idyllic spot to spend a long summer’s day.
Alternatively, if you don’t want to leave the city center, the stairs of Sacre Coeur in the trendy area of Montmartre is always a classic choice for the summertime.

Royal Fireworks

The Royal Fireworks in Paris is a magnificent spectacle beyond compare. Here you can see colours and sparks reflecting in the great fountains of Versailles., Handels ‘Music for the Royal Fireworks’, that was originally composed for King George II provides a majestic soundtrack to this visual feast.

Jazz Festival

Paris has always been the European capital of Jazz.
The biggest festival is the Paris Jazz Festival at Parc Floral. Taking place over three weekends in June and July, the festival features some of jazz’s most exciting artists. If you find yourself in the city during May, you might catch a performance at the St. Germain Jazz Festival also.
