Globe-Trotter

The Globe-Trotter suitcase is the epitome of traditional British craftsmanship that has survived unaltered through 100 years of everyday travel and intrepid adventure. The brand was established in 1897 by Englishman David Nelken. Handmade in Hertfordshire, manufacture relies solely on original Victorian-era methods, lending the product it’s unique charm and personality. Each case is constructed from vulcanised fibreboard, a composite paper material invented in Britain during the 1850s. Each case is riveted, lined and leather trimmed by hand from start to finish. A total of 98 processes are involved in the making of one suitcase, taking 10 days, 9 hours and 35 minutes. The quality of construction is manifest in the suitcase’s renowned durability, tested to withstand the weight of an elephant, and nowadays, airport baggage handlers. Globe-Trotters have a timeless appeal and an aesthetic that only improves with age and wear. For once, they make them exactly like they used to.
